BAM definitions without the BizTalk tools
A BAM definition describes the activities a business tracks (with their milestones and data items) and the views built on them (with aliases, measures and dimensions). The BAM Viewer is a custom editor for VS Code that reads an exported definition file and shows it as two lists of cards: activities and views.
| Tab | Each card shows |
|---|---|
| Activities | Milestones, data items and relationships to other activities. |
| Views | The activities the view uses, and its aliases, measures and dimensions. |
How it treats your files
- Read-only: the viewer never changes the file.
- Local: the file is parsed inside VS Code. The extension makes no network calls.
- Live: the view refreshes when the underlying document changes.
- Exported files only: it doesn't read the BAM portal, the BAM databases or Tracking Profile Editor files, and it doesn't deploy or modify definitions.
