A .btp file opens as XML text

An editor association overrides the extension. Right-click the file and choose Open with BizTalk Pipeline Viewer, or use Open With… and Configure default editor for '*.btp'.

Unable to read pipeline: The .btp file is not valid XML.

Select Open as text, fix the XML error, and the view updates.

Unable to read pipeline: This XML does not look like a BizTalk pipeline document.

The root element is not Document. The viewer only reads pipeline files saved by the BizTalk Pipeline Designer.

The direction shows Pipeline

PolicyFilePath is missing or contains neither receive, send nor transmit.

A stage is called Stage 3

Its CategoryId is not one of the seven standard stages.

The Command Palette command does nothing

It opens the file in the active text editor. Open the .btp file as text first, or right-click it in the Explorer.

The extension does not install

It needs VS Code 1.90 or later. Check Help › About.
