Quick start

Open a .btp file and read its stages and components.

Open your first pipeline

    Open a folder

    with a BizTalk project, or any folder with .btp files.

    Double-click a .btp file in the Explorer.

    It opens in the BizTalk Pipeline Viewer, the default editor for *.btp. You can also right-click it and choose Open with BizTalk Pipeline Viewer.

    Check the header

    for the direction (Receive or Send) and the counts.

  4. 4
    Read the stages

    from top to bottom, and the properties of each component.

Select Open as text in the viewer's header, or right-click the file and use Open With… and Text Editor.

A .btp file still opens as XML?

VS Code may remember an earlier editor choice. Right-click the file, choose Open With…, select BizTalk Pipeline Viewer, and then Configure default editor for '*.btp'.
