Setting
| Setting | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
tarGzViewer.maxArchiveSizeMB | 512 | Maximum decompressed archive size, in MB, that the viewer loads. |
Change it in Settings (search for Tar.gz Viewer) or in settings.json:
{
"tarGzViewer.maxArchiveSizeMB": 1024
}The limit applies to the decompressed size, which can be many times the size of the file on disk. A larger limit uses more memory.
Caching
The viewer keeps the last five archives it read in memory, so opening several files from one archive is fast. An archive is read again when its modification time changes.
