HL7 v2 Codec for Azure Logic Apps

Troubleshooting

Common problems and how to fix them.

Service provider/serviceProviders/lamboHl7CodecLicensed together with the HL7 MLLP Connector. One token covers both.

Common problems

Decode returns AR: no schema found
Add the message structure's XSD to Artifacts/Schemas, check that its root starts with MSH, or set schemaName. allowSchemaless returns generic XML instead.
Decode returns AR / 203
MSH-12 isn't in supportedVersions.
Decode returns AE
Read errors[]: each has a table 0357 code and a location such as PID[3].5(1).2. Schemas that enumerate table values reject local codes.
The action fails with 403
No valid license: set LAMBOGENIUS_LICENSE. The error message says what is wrong with the token.
The action fails with 400
The message input is empty.
“The value '/serviceProviders/lamboHl7Codec' … is not valid”
The host is using the extension bundle instead of the project's packages. Remove the extensionBundle section from the host.json the runtime reads.
XPath returns nothing
Declare the root namespace with a prefix (or use /*); child elements have no namespace. Check the names against your own XSD: they differ between schemas (PID_5_PatientName or PID_5).
The xml output can't be read with ?['…']
xml and json are strings. Wrap them: xml(body('Decode_HL7')?['xml']) for xpath(), json(body('Decode_HL7')?['json']) for property access.
The designer doesn't show the actions
The VS Code designer loads built-in connectors from the extension bundle; build the custom bundle as the package's README describes. The workflows still run without it.

Still stuck? Email hello@lambogenius.com with the action's errors output (no patient data).
